Overview
Colorado has legalized both medical and recreational marijuana use for adults aged 21 and over. Individuals are permitted to possess up to 1 ounce of marijuana flower or concentrates, and cultivate up to 6 plants (with no more than 3 mature) for personal use. The sale of marijuana products is regulated by the state, with licensed retailers allowed to sell to adults over 21 and subject to excise taxes.
Regarding specific cannabinoids, Delta 9 THC products derived from marijuana are legal for recreational use within the state's possession limits. Delta 8 THC, Delta 10, and other hemp-derived intoxicating compounds can only be sold by licensed cannabis retailers. However, non-intoxicating hemp derivatives like CBD and THCA remain legal for general retail sale if they meet the federal 0.3% Delta 9 THC limit. Colorado's laws aim to provide a regulated market for adult-use marijuana while restricting access to minors and unlicensed sales.
